How to Play Klaverjassen
Getting Started
1. Card Setup
The game uses a 32-card deck (7 through Ace in each suit). Card values change depending on whether they are part of the trump suit or not.
2. Main Goal
Your mission is to win the most points by capturing tricks. The game is played in pairs, with partners sitting across from each other.
3. Choosing Trump
During the bidding phase, players compete to select the trump suit. The winning bidder’s team must reach the announced score to succeed.
4. Playing the Hand
Always follow the suit that was led, if possible. If not, you can play any card. Tricks are won by the strongest trump, or if none are played, the highest card of the led suit.
5. Counting Points
Teams earn points for each trick and special combos. The first team to achieve 501 points claims victory!
